Frequently asked questions

What to do when the Belt Conveyor becomes off-center?

When the Belt Conveyor belt becomes off-center, it is important to check that the alignment is correct, otherwise it needs to be rectified. When the Belt's 2 axes are not parallel, one side of the strand is less taut than the other, resulting in drift. As it is very difficult to center a Belt, the parallelism of the Idlers can be adjusted by means of screws on the Idler bearings.

The first thing to check is the conveyor frame, which must not be distorted.

Once checked, proceed in this order:

  • Adjust tensioners symmetrically
  • Repeat test
  • If the Belt still shifts to one side, lower the bypass roller slightly on that side.

Running-in

Once the Belt has been installed, it must be run-in correctly to ensure trouble-free operation:

  • Remove all tools from both parts of the Belt
  • Give the Belt a suitable preload. For installations with counterweights, it may be advantageous to reduce the weight during running-in.
  • Run the Belt without load, and adjust the system during idling.
  • Successively increase load until full load is reached
  • Check that the drum motor drives the Belt under all conditions, check this at regular intervals
