Belt centering
Start-up steps for Belt Conveyor belt alignment
There are several steps to follow when setting up a Belt Conveyor. Belt centering is performed on a running machine. Please note that you will need to be extra vigilant in complying with safety instructions and recommendations.
- Start up the Belt Conveyor (see the user company's internal intervention and consignment procedures).
- Check direction of Belt travel
- Check that all upper and lower Idlers are correctly installed and in motion.
- If this is not the case, stop the installation and rectify any assembly problems.
- Check that there is no misalignment of the supporting structures
- Release tensioning rods
- Check belt tension
- Release the locknuts, center the Belt by acting on the threaded tensioning rods
- Once this operation is complete, lock the threaded rods.
A test run may be necessary by starting up the installation, after taking care to reinstall all protective devices and remove all foreign objects (tools, stones, ballast, etc.), and repeat the tensioning operations on the Belt.
Belt: strand offset
If, after centering the belt, the 2 strands (top and bottom) are offset to one side, release the bolts on several roller supports. Use a hammer to move the idler support to the side of the Belt offset. In this case, you'll need to be in the direction of belt travel on the side where it's offset, or in the opposite direction. Repeat this procedure on several supports until the Belt is recentered. Finally, tighten the Idlers support bolts.
Once the Belt is centered, check if necessary and adjust the loaded Belt. Make sure that the belt feed is centered and vertical in the conveyor's feed trough.
